Pharmacology imparts basic knowledge of prescription writing, mechanism of action, clinical utilization and kinetics of drugs. Teaching in Pharmacology involves Rational Therapy relating good prescription writing and avoiding adverse reactions as well as undesirable interaction of drugs. In addition to delivering informative lectures, this department emphasizes on tutorials, multiple choice questions and practical demonstrations of different drugs and dosages forms. Students of BDS 2nd year are able to dispense the drugs required for day to day practice through the knowledge gained in the pharmacology department.
The aim of teaching in this department is to give a succinct comprehensive knowledge on essentials of Pharmacology and rational drug treatment.
